Recently, the penetration of renewable energy (RE) into existing electricity system is increasing in order to deal with increasing renewable energy installation in response to ever increasing demand for electric power. The power generated using renewable energy sources is generally distributed generation across various locations. The integration of these distributed generation coupled with variable nature of consumer power demand poses threat to the grid satiability, power quality and reliability. In order to integrate the distributed renewable energy generation into existing system smoothly grid codes are developed for wind turbines besides detailed revision in planning and grid infrastructure development. This paper deals with the need and study of Low Voltage Ride Through (LVRT) and High Voltage Ride Through (HVRT), grid code requirements to be satisfied by wind turbine generators (WTG) before getting connected to the grid network. The LVRT and HVRT, grid code helps the power system network in self healing thereby ensuring power quality.
